Kl\u00f4 Pelgag invites us to reflect on freedom, its meaning, and how to attain it. \u201cWhat are we talking about when it comes to freedom? Even the noblest sentiments, even the seasons can lock us up. Living to the fullest might mean to constantly challenge yourself. It\u2019s in this shared quest, this kindness between the protagonist and their friend that a cure can be found \u2013 the feeling of being understood, <\/em> \u201d she says. The ever-ascending synths convey a desire to be free. Somewhere between dance and levitation, between a mantra and a statement, <\/em> ,\u201d concludes Pelgag. The video for the song was directed by her longtime collaborator Laurence BAZ Morais. It features a series of shots that illustrate these questions. He explains his creative process: \u201c Through visual metaphors the video explores how we hide our raw emotions behind deceptive facades. The goal is to shine a light on the inner struggle, the tension between the carefully crafted appearance and the chaotic reality. <\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n

The artist from Bas-Saint-Laurent (QC) announces that she will soon be back on the road in Quebec, Paris and Brussels, with 15 dates on her schedule so far. With five musicians, Kl\u00f4 Pelgag invites us to join her on her eternal quest for fun. Eager to create music that is as urgent and powerful as our emotions, she figures that the answer might lie in every concert, a rare opportunity to share a moment that leads us to acknowledge the natural beauty of things, Abracadabra. Each new Kl\u00f4 Pelgag album reiterates the unique place she occupies in the Francophone cultural landscape. “Abracadabra <\/strong> is no exception. From the very first moments of the music, it’s clear that the contrasts that have always been part of the work have been refined. That the powerful, evocative poetic images have become clearer. Between fragility and complexity, the melodic flights fragment to reappear transfigured. The pieces showcase the full elegance of Kl\u00f4 Pelgag’s voice, and bear witness to a genuine exploratory quest through the various ways in which she uses it. The magic lies in her ability to surprise and in her apparent refusal to stagnate creatively. <\/p>\n\n

This time, working alone as a producer, Kl\u00f4 Pelgag has surrounded herself with her stronghold of recent years: \u00c9tienne Dupr\u00e9<\/strong> on bass, Fran\u00e7ois Za\u00efdan<\/strong> on guitar, Pete P\u00e9telle<\/strong> on drums, Virginie Reid<\/strong> on keyboards and Pierre Girard<\/strong> on sound mixing.<\/p>\n\n

About Kl\u00f4 Pelgag<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Kl\u00f4 Pelgag <\/strong>is a critically-acclaimed artist in Quebec and Canada, with a career of 20 F\u00e9lix awards at the Galas de l’ADISQ, a JUNO Award, one nomination on the short list and one on the long list for the Polaris Music Prize, and collaborations with and appearances at concerts by CRi, Patrick Watson and Pomme. Her last opus, Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, won accolades from the media. In Canada, Exclaim! gave it 8\/10, and in Quebec the reviews were unanimous: five stars in Le Journal de Montr\u00e9al, “Le LP de 2020, on le tient”; 9\/10 in Le Canal Auditif, “une \u0153uvre pertinente et audacieuse”; and four stars in La Presse, “un album riche”. .<\/strong>. .<\/strong>. .<\/strong> . .<\/strong>. .<\/strong> . .<\/strong> . .<\/strong> . .<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Her last album, Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, spread beyond the province and the country, with rave reviews in France, in T\u00e9l\u00e9rama<\/strong>, with its coveted ffff <\/em> rating, and in Longueur d’onde<\/strong>, Rolling Stone France<\/strong>, FrancoFan <\/strong> and more. Influential American journalist Anthony Fantano reviewed the album on his YouTube channel, The Needle Drop<\/strong> – unheard of for a French-language album: “There are tons of wonderful creative highlights in every corner of this project.” In recent years, she has performed in Quebec at MTelus, in France at La Maroquinerie and in the UK at the sold-out Lexington, as well as in Japan, Belgium and Switzerland. With her first full-length, L’alchimie des monstres in 2013, she scooped several awards, including the Prix Barbara from the French Ministry of Culture <\/strong>, the Grand Prix de la Francophonie from the Acad\u00e9mie Charles Cros<\/strong>, the Prix Miroir C\u00e9l\u00e9bration<\/strong> de la langue fran\u00e7aise at the Festival d’\u00e9t\u00e9 de Qu\u00e9bec and the Prix Rapsat-Leli\u00e8vre.<\/strong>. Her second album, L’\u00e9toile thoracique, won her the prestigious Prix F\u00e9lix-Leclerc<\/strong>, as well as the Prix de la chanson SOCAN<\/strong> for the song “Ferrofluides-fleurs”.<\/p>\n\n
